Welcome to the programme of the Rotary Club of Cuckfield & Lindfield. As you can see we have a series of interesting, even exciting speakers who will be both informative and entertaining. Each month we hold a Business Meeting where each team reports on it’s progress and plans and recruits volunteers for the various activities. These meeting give visitors a really good perspective on what Rotary, and our Club in particular, are all about. with lively discussion and friendly repartee by the, non too respectful members. Please browse the list and don’t miss a meeting.
Explanation of Duties
Hosting – Meet guests (including speakers) in the bar and ensure that they are seated appropriately. You sit on the right hand seat on the top table; the speaker being between you and the President. Get all guests to put and entry into the Visitors Book and collect payment for their meal. Note that often a members who brings a guest will ask for the meal to be charged to their account.
Regalia & Vote of Thanks – Obtain the key to the Club cupboard from the bar. Put out the lectern, gavel, raffle hat and wine and return them and the key at the end of the meeting. Sit at the end of one of the long tables, the other end from the top table. Listen carefully to the speaker, take notes and compose a complimentary vote of thanks, finishing with asking the members to express their thanks in he usual way. Tip – Avoid too much research beforehand or you will end up giving the speech.
